GOP Ring Road-II, connecting three districts Lahore, Kasur and Sheikhupura.
186km-long road named as the National Economic Corridor had been envisioned by the former Lahore Commissioner and the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA). Existing Ring Road is pulling managing the traffic on a massive sale but considering the massive traffic chunk.
For the forthcoming need of another corridor/ring road belt is essential that could not only simplify the connectivity of Lahore, Kasur, and Nankana Shab, it must serve a strategic role in sustaining a demographic development, in futuristic requirements.
Ring Road-II, beneath plan that will commence at BRB Canal Lahore, aligned all along to pass in through Kasur district. Making its way, it will run along the Laliani (Mustafabad) canal, then entering Raiwind & touching Manga Mandi’s suburbs. Crossing River Ravi & trickle and run along an uninhabited part of Upper Chenab Canal (UCC) reaching Kala Shah Kaku ending will be at BRB Canal near Muridke (Sheikhupura).
“this route is substantial for new corridors and extensions of new demographic developments considering the length that, will be built on state land available on BRB, Laliani & UC canals. Cost of land acquisition in totality is estimated around 40 billion Pak rupees.
A pattern of existing Ring Road module under the public-private partnership will be executed. Thou, provisioning & land acquisition (right of way) will be governed by Punjab Government. No equity from the government will be practiced in civil works of this project.
Numerous interchanges, bridges, and culverts to join cities infrastructural services with each other. It will deliver direct & hassle-free entree to traffic for three motorways (Lahore-Karachi, Lahore-Islamabad, and Lahore Sialkot).
The project aims to cut the burden of heavy traffic on existing Ring Road & outskirts of Lahore, precisely inter/outer city routes.
Delight and easy passage for Sikh pilgrims to Nankana Sahib will be another appealing chapter for Sikh community from all over the globe either entering Lahore through the airport or from India Wahga border. It will serve as a secure defense layer of the country along the BRB after the existing Ring Road. Strengthening canals & embankments, will also be saving millions of rupees spent by the irrigation department.
Project’s feasibility & study work is likely to be assigned to Nespak.
